Intu has appointed the former chief digital officer at Travis Perkins to its non-executive board of directors.

Property landlords Intu, which owns shopping centres such as Lakeside, Watford and Victoria Centre Nottingham, have confirmed the appointment of Cheryl Millington as an independent non-executive director.

She will take up her new role on May 3 at the property giant’s annual general meeting.

Millington has held several senior digital and technology leadership roles across a variety of sectors, including retail and financial services. She was most recently the chief digital officer at construction company Travis Perkins, where she was responsible for designing and implementing its digital strategy.

She has non-executive director roles at financial outsourcing firm Equiniti Group and Atom Bank. Millington was previously non-executive director of National Savings and Investments.

Intu said Millington will replace Rakhi Goss-Custard as its “non-executive director with strategic expertise” on the board.

Intu chair John Strachan said: “I am delighted that Cheryl is joining the board. She will bring her extensive and significant experience to the board in defining digital vision and strategy and will be instrumental in helping to drive Intu’s digital strategy, including data insight and analytics, in an environment where new technology is evolving rapidly and is a vital component of Intu’s winning destinations strategy.”
