SRG's Autonomy lined up for high street locations

Speciality Retail Group is to bring its womenswear fascia Autonomy onto the high street. Two shops will open next month in Guildford and Bath.

Autonomy only has a presence in outlet centres at present, and was originally launched to complement SRG's heavy reliance on menswear. The change in approach follows moves by other retailers, such as eisenegger, which recently launched its Foxhole womenswear fascia.

The first two high street Autonomy stores are a pilot, ahead of possible expansion. There are nine existing standalone Autonomy stores, but the womenswear range is sold in some of SRG's Suits You shops. The Bath Autonomy store will also carry menswear for the first time.

A spokeswoman for SRG said the retailer will still carry a value range, including its popular three-items-for-a-set-price offer.

However, she said prices will be adjusted for the high street.

Speciality Retail Group will also relaunch its menswear fascia Woodhouse with a new store design in April. The revamped look will be unveiled at the relocated store at Bluewater in Kent.

Woodhouse is moving from a 165 sq m unit to a 370 sq m unit and will take space previously occupied by The Entertainer. Woodhouse's old store is being taken over by a Reiss womenswear shop.

According to SRG, the new Woodhouse store will be a flagship for the brand, which has 10 outlets including eight standalone stores. 'It is growing as a business and this allows us to also get more brands in,' the spokeswoman said.
