Value retail group snaps up heavyweights as non-execs
Brown & Jackson has announced the appointment of Sir Geoff Mulcahy as part of a board shake up. Mulcahy (pictured), together with John Richards and John Gnodde, joins the board as a non-executive director.

Mulcahy is a retail industry veteran, most recently holding the post of chief executive at Kingfisher. John Richards, a regular columnist for Retail Week, has 20 years experience as a retail analyst. John Gnodde is chief executive at South African finance group Brait.

Brown & Jackson group finance director Gary Brown will assume executive responsibility for distribution and business risk activities. The retailer also announced that its financial report for the year-end, to be released in April, would be broadly in line with expectations.

Brown & Jackson chairman Christo Wiese said: 'We've achieved significantly improved profitability. The transition to our new distribution centre is well advanced and it will become fully operational in mid-March. I am also delighted to welcome onto the board such a wealth of experience.'
