Debenhams opened a 70,000 sq ft store in Roaring Meg Retail and Leisure Park, Stevenage, this morning, billed as chief executive Sergio Bucher’s first store.

Crowds gathered ahead of the 10am opening.

With several internal atriums, neon tube overhead design features and a generous amount of room to move, this is a substantial initiative by Debenhams.

Also worth noting are the concessions, with Patisserie Valerie, Costa and Virgin Holidays all included as part of the blueprint.

The store opens on the same day as House of Fraser welcomes shoppers to its new Rushden Lakes sustainable emporium. Check it out here.
