Maplin technology boss Neil McGowan has left the retailer just 15 months after being appointed to the role.
McGowan was drafted into the executive level position from N Brown in July last year as part of a senior management reshuffle, which saw Oliver Meakin appointed as chief executive.
Having stepped down earlier this month, McGowan’s responsibilities will be taken on by the retailer’s chief financial officer Lindsay Dunsmuir.
It is unclear whether he has been handed the wider remit on an interim or permanent basis.
Unknown destination
McGowan, who also held IT roles at Shop Direct, the Ministry of Justice and Volkswagen prior to his time with Maplin, has not yet disclosed his new role.
During his time with Maplin McGowan ushered in a number of new initiatives, including the development of video chat technology for online customers.
Meakin said: “During an extremely busy two years, Neil made a number of significant changes to the technology environment at Maplin, forging new relationships within the industry and developing a clear systems strategy to enhance and streamline Maplin’s digital presence.
“I would like to thank Neil for his hard work and commitment and wish him the very best.”
