Charles Tyrwhitt has promoted its chief operating officer to lead the business as part of a leadership shift.

Rebecca Howat has been promoted to managing director following a leadership restructure which saw chief executive Luke Kingsnorth promoted to group chief executive of parent company Bectin, according to The Times.

Howat has been with Charles Tyrwhitt for almost 13 years, having started as head of merchandising in 2013 and moving through the ranks in many senior roles before becoming chief operating officer of the shirt maker.

Kingsnorth told the newspaper that Howat “knows Charles Tyrwhitt inside out, brings huge commercial and operational experience, and has a real understanding of what it takes to lead the business”.

Before joining Charles Tyrwhitt, Howat worked in merchandising for Arcadia Group and Oasis.
