Google and Pinterest up the ante to drive festive sales online

Pinterest

Google and Pinterest have launched respective innovations on their platforms in a bid to drive retail sales online during the Golden Quarter.

Google has launched free listings for retailers on its shopping tab across Europe from the middle of next month in a bid to drive online retail traffic in the run up to Christmas.

Retailers do not need to already advertise with Google to use this service. The global search engine has rolled out free listings for European businesses after launching the service in the US earlier this year.

US companies that used free listings saw their online view double and site visits spike by 50%, with small- and medium-sized businesses driving this increase.
