High street footfall wilts in UK heatwave

Empty high street in Northamtonshire

Soaring temperatures, school closures and transport disruption across many parts of the UK have seen high street footfall wilt in the heatwave.

The latest footfall data from MRI Software shows a sharp decline in high street visits this year, down 13.7% year on year and 8.9% week on week up to 2pm yesterday (June 24), which was the hottest June day on record for many parts of the UK.
