Upmarket direct homewares retailer extends home shopping giant's portfolio into new ground
N Brown has acquired the business and assets of House of Bath for£1.1 million.

The gift catalogue retailer has been purchased debt free from the administrator.

N Brown acknowledged that the purchase extends its range into a new area. It said: 'The acquisition of this high quality catalogue retailer complements the existing strategy of JD Williams by extending into the household and personal gift markets'

According to investment analyst house Seymour Pierce, House of Bath has sales of around£18m.

Seymour Pierce retail analyst Richard Ratner said: 'It is a considerably more upmarket offer than N Browns existing business. It seems a sensible acquisition and should add around£1m to profits next year.'
