Fashion and luxury goods retailer Smythson has named Hunter boss Paolo Porta as its new chief executive, taking up the role with immediate effect.

Porta has had an “extensive” career within the luxury sector and joins from boots brand Hunter where was chief executive since February 2021.

Smythson has appointed former Hunter boss Paolo Porta as its new chief executive.

He also previously held senior positions at Jimmy Choo, Burberry, Christian Dior and Stella McCartney, working in a variety of merchandising, wholesale distribution, retail buying and management and brand development roles.

Smythson chair and Tivoli Group chief executive Stefano Giacomelli said: “I’m delighted that Paolo is joining the brand to take on the role of CEO. Thanks to his extensive expertise in global lifestyle companies, he is ideally placed to lead such a distinctive and renowned brand as Smythson.

“Under Paolo’s leadership, the brand is primed to begin a new chapter in its development through the strengthening of its traditional markets in the UK and Europe but in particular, to expand its presence in new, strategic markets such as the United States and Asia”.
