John Lewis is eyeing international expansion and is targeting entering 10 new Asian markets through concessions in department stores.

John Lewis managing director Andy Street told the FT it was considering concessions in locations such as Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo.

The department store group already wholesales in South Korean department store Shinsegae and has four concessions in its stores.

This tie-up is set to expand with two new concessions opening by the autumn.

However, John Lewis is not looking to launch in China because it does not believe it is a suitable fit for its product yet.

John Lewis last week revealed it will open in Heathrow Terminal 2 in June next year in a move that will open up its brand to millions of overseas travellers. However, Street played down opening standalone stores internationally.
