A “stunning” display of international flags has been installed down the length of Regent Street to celebrate the London Olympics.

206 flags of the nations competing in the Olympics, including a number of UK Union flags, are on display from Friday June 15 until after the closing ceremony.

Stretching from north to south down Regent Street, the flags lead to Piccadilly Circus before continuing south down Regent Street St James’s.

Other London streets to exhibit flags from around the world include Jermyn Street and Conduit Street.

Regent Street Association director Annie Walker said: “Regent Street is proud to support the games by showcasing the flags of the world, which reflects the great international offer in the most renowned shopping street in London’s West End.

“This wonderful display complements the grand and historic architecture – Regent Street has never looked better. “

Regent Street will also play host to a satellite media centre during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, supporting the city’s primary London Media Centre.
