Similar to B&Q Local stores, shoppers will have access to an extended range for store collection or delivery

The home improvement giant will open the first standalone TradePoint location in Barking in March, designed to exclusively serve trade professionals.

The move is part of B&Q’s ambition to grow the TradePoint brand to a £1bn business following consistent growth from the division, with H1FY25 sales up 6.9%, accounting for 22.4% of the retailer’s total sales.

B&Q said the new concept would cater exclusively to trade professionals, offering expanded opening hours, a 1-2-1 service and rapid delivery and collection solutions, as well as paint mixing and timber sawing services. Across the 32,000 sq ft. sales area, the store in Barking will stock over 5,500 products for tradespeople’s jobs across building, plumbing, electrical, garden landscaping, plastering, tiling, flooring, decorating, and kitchen and bathroom fitting.

There will also be an expanded range of brands, including DeWalt, Makita, Johnstone’s Trade paint, as well as Kingfisher’s own brands, Erbauer and Site, among others.

Similar to B&Q Local stores, shoppers will also have access to an extended range for store collection or delivery.

B&Q chief executive Graham Bell said: “Growing TradePoint is a strategic priority for B&Q and we’re proud to be launching this new standalone B&Q TradePoint store concept to help make life easier for tradespeople and to help them grow their businesses. Understanding the needs of tradespeople has been crucial, and as a result, reliability, speed, product availability, competitive pricing and extended hours are all key elements of our new TradePoint proposition.

“Our ambition is to make TradePoint a £1 billion business and as a key milestone in helping us to achieve that, we’re excited to be testing this new standalone store concept and to welcome tradespeople to the first store in this format at Barking in March.”
