Toolstation has joined the growing list of home improvement retailers exploring small-format stores.

The retailer has opened the first of its new Toolstation Go stores in Battersea, London, which it says will offer a ”faster, more convenient way to shop”.
Both B&Q and Screwfix have accelerated the opening programmes of compact, city stores in recent years.
Toolstation’s latest opening features digital kiosks, click-and-collect with same- or next-day delivery, or rapid delivery to site or home via its FastTrack offer.
The compact stores will stock a range of everyday trade and DIY essentials. Product ranges in the Battersea store include plumbing, electrical, power tools, hand tools, and painting and decorating products, with the wider range available for delivery or collection.
Toolstation Go is now open on Battersea Park Road with opening hours from 6am to 8pm Monday-Saturday, and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.
Toolstation managing director Lakhvir Sanghera said: “Our Toolstation Go stores combine seamless technology with the unrivalled service and knowledge of our colleagues. This new format delivers a quick and convenient shopping experience without compromising the high level of service that customers know and trust Toolstation for.
“We know how busy and time-constrained tradespeople can be, and this smaller and more flexible store format means we will be able to open in different locations to our traditional stores.”
