Former Stella McCartney EMEA president Julia Goddard was appointed as Harvey Nichols’ new chief executive, commencing her role in June 2024. Pearson Poon had stepped up as vice chairman on an interim basis after Malhotra’s resignation.

Harvey Nichols’ group sales recovered strongly in the year to 2 April 2022 (FY2021), although they have yet to reach pre-pandemic levels. Net sales rose 58.0% to £191.7m, while gross sales including concessions surged 64.8% to £219.5m as Covid restrictions were lifted at the end of Q1. With trading patterns normalising as stores reopened, online sales fell back by 19.3% to £53.8m, accounting for 28% of the group total. The business has been substantially loss-making for the past three years, but losses were reduced over the most recent year following the improvement in trading.
