Retailer waves goodbye to two non-executive directors

At the same time, Walker Boyd has resigned his non-executive directorship. He announced his intention not to go for re-election on the same day as Handover last year. Robert Walker will replace Handover as chairman on Tuesday.

The retailer also announced today, the departure of non-executive director Andrew Rolfe. He has been appointed Gap president, and is relocating to San Fransisco.

Handover said: 'For my part, following this meeting I retire from the board after 40 years working in the businesses of the WHSmith Group. The staff at WHSmith are fantastic and it has been my privilege to work with them and lead them. I wish the board, Kate [Swann] and the management team every success in the future.'
