Tesco is extending its same day online grocery delivery service to 300 stores across the UK in a move it says will cover 99% of UK households.
The grocery giant will allow shoppers to order an unlimited number of grocery items online by 1pm for delivery from 7pm onwards.
The service, which was launched across London and the South East in 2014, will be priced between £3 and £8 but will be free for a limited period for members of the supermarket’s online delivery membership scheme, Delivery Saver.
Tesco said demand for its same-day delivery service has seen an 18% jump so far this year.
The grocer’s online managing director Adrian Letts said: “Customers tell us they like getting their shopping delivered quickly and conveniently, and with our same-day delivery service they can now order by lunch to get their shopping delivered for their evening meal.
“We’ve seen the service grow in popularity since we launched it in London and the South East so we’re really excited to be rolling it out to customers nationwide.”
The move comes after the supermarket giant extended its same-day click and collect nationwide in March, as it continues to square up to Amazon.
