This will be the second Gorillas location to launch in Manchester

This is set to be the first regional launch of the “co-located partnership” following its introduction on a trial basis from London’s Thornton Heath and Lewisham branches in October 2021.

Gorillas said customers in the Manchester area would be “able to order a large range of Tesco products to their door within minutes.”

This is the second Gorillas location to launch in Manchester, complementing an existing warehouse delivering to the Piccadilly and New Islington area.

The Berlin-based rapid delivery firm has opened more than 200 dark stores across nine European countries over the past 18 months as it looks to take the lead in a highly competitive market that has sprung up during the pandemic.

“We look forward to bringing this service to our customers in Manchester.”

Tom Hebbert, group innovation director at Tesco

Tom Hebbert, group innovation director at Tesco, said: “Through our partnership with Gorillas, we can be even more convenient to our customers, helping them with last-minute Tesco products delivered in minutes.

“Customers have responded really well to the first two sites in Thornton Heath and Lewisham, and we look forward to bringing this service to our customers in Manchester.”

Gorillas UK general manager Christopher Chaaya said: “This pioneering move will provide Mancunians with well-loved Tesco favourites at their fingertips, from the Gorillas app to the doorstep in minutes.”
