Pret a Manger has struck a deal with Tesco to sell a range of its frozen croissants in 700 of the grocer’s stores.

Pret’s deal with Tesco marks the first time its range of croissants will be available for purchase outside its own branches.

The deal with the supermarket giant will initially see the food-to-go chain’s all-butter, chocolate-filled and vegan croissants available for purchase across 700 Tesco stores nationwide.

The tie-up follows Pret launching its coffee-at-home range in supermarkets last summer, which is now available at Amazon, Ocado and Waitrose.

Pret’s UK managing director Clare Clough said: “With millions sold yearly, we know how much our customers love our croissants, which is why I’m thrilled that we have been able to launch our new frozen range.

“Featuring three of our bestselling flavours, our teams have worked hard to ensure customers can get the same freshly baked taste they get in our shops at home.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Tesco for Pret’s first ever supermarket food range, marking an important moment in our journey to bring Pret to more people.”

Pret has had to pivot its business during the pandemic due to a sharp fall in commuter numbers and reduced demand in its city-centre locations.

The chain now sells on food-delivery apps Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat. It has also launched a coffee subscription service and hot dinner menu in recent months to help drive demand.
