Ocado Group is preparing to name a successor for its co-founder and chief executive, Tim Steiner.

The retail technology group is in discussions with prospective candidates to replace Steiner after more than 26 years, Sky News first reported.
Industry sources said Ocado had approached Niklas Heuveldop, the chief executive of Vonage, a subsidiary of Swedish tech firm Ericsson, to take on the role.
However, it was unclear over the weekend how soon an announcement would be made and whether Heuveldop would be lined up.
The search for Steiner’s replacement is understood to be led by Ocado chair Adam Warby.
Responding to the reports, Ocado said this morning that the chief executive and board “continually engage in long-term succession planning and regularly engage with potential candidates”.
The news comes weeks after the retail group revealed a partnership with Asda to upgrade its online grocery service and improve the home shopping experience for customers.
The supermarket chain will roll out Ocado’s Smart Platform technology solutions next year across its website and mobile app, in-store picking, and home delivery service.
