Lidl has made a multimillion-pound investment in slashing prices in a bid to help customers save money.

Since the start of 2026, the discount supermarket has cut prices on over 1,000 products, including everyday staples such as eggs, bread, fresh meat, fruit, and vegetables.

Recent reductions include Mature Cheddar cheese – cut from £2.79 to £2.49; the price of 200g of cherries has been lowered from £2.29 to £1.39; and four beef quarter-pounders have been reduced from £3.49 to £2.89.

The grocer has also invested heavily in its Lidl Plus app, enhancing the platform with the launch of Lidl Points and more tailored deals.

Reward points can be spent in the in-app marketplace, swapped for over 200 products, or exchanged for coupons offering money off.

It is also committed to opening over 50 new stores in 12 months as part of a £600m investment in its UK infrastructure, expected to create around 2,000 new jobs across the country.

Lidl GB chief commercial officer Richard Bourns said: “We know customers continue to face pressure on their household budgets, especially heading into the summer months. Our £250 million investment in lowering prices on over 1,000 products ensures customers get even better value.

“This latest investment, combined with a significant increase in promotions via the Lidl Plus app, reinforces our unwavering commitment to deliver the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices.”
