The virtual course will be free for students aged 13 and above

The supermarket is offering the free online course for students aged 13 and above, and it is created to introduce people to various careers available in the retail industry and build skills for future applications.

It first launched in December 2024, and Aldi said it attracted thousands of sign-ups from young people across the UK.

During the course, students can learn about Aldi through videos from colleagues, as well as interactive quizzes and activities.

Once the course is complete, students will receive a certificate to enhance CVs and applications.

The expansion of the virtual work experience course arrives as Aldi said increasing numbers of teenagers are finding it harder to obtain work experience, as effects from the pandemic are limiting in-person opportunities.

The supermarket will also be recruiting more than 350 new apprentices in 2025.

Aldi UK training and development director Lisa Murphy said: “We know how important work experience is in helping young people take their first steps into the world of work.

“Our virtual work experience programme has already proved popular with thousands of students, and we want to ensure even more benefit from it.

“That’s why we’ve made the commitment to reach 10,000 young people by the end of this year, making it easier than ever for them to access opportunities, regardless of where they live or their personal circumstances.”
