French retailer The Kooples has pulled out of plans to open a store on Savile Row as it slows down its UK expansion plans.

According to the Independent on Sunday, The Kooples has pulled out of four property deals in the UK due to difficult market conditions.

In April it was announced that the retailer was to open a store on London’s Savile Row, a decision which was met with fierce opposition from Savile Row tailors who claimed that a fashion brand opening on the street would not be a good fit for the area.

A spokeswoman for The Kooples said: “Our new expansion programme is the US. We will still open shops in the UK when good business opportunities are proposed.”
