M&S is maintaining its price cap on school uniforms

The news came at a time when the spending power of many consumers remains under pressure.

While the latest official data showed this week that overall inflation was stable, it still stood at 3.4% and food price inflation of 4.4% was the highest since February last year having risen consecutively for three months.

Marks & Spencer said it is “committed to protecting the value on the products that matter most to customers” while not compromising on “the exceptional quality M&S is known for”. The retailer will also continue to offer an extended 100-day returns period on school uniform.

M&S kidswear director Alexandra Dimitriu said: As the UK market leaders during the back-to-school season, we’re maintaining the magic of M&S. Trusted value and hand-me-down quality sit at the heart of what we offer in kidswear, which is why we have held our prices for the fifth year in a row.

“It’s not just about school uniform this summer either. We’ve also reduced prices by up to 20% on selected kids daywear, so whether it’s after school playtime or weekend activities, we’re ensuring families have everything they need this season.”
