Marks & Spencer international director Jan Heere, who was drafted in to spearhead its overseas charge, is set to leave the retailer.
Heere is thought to be returning to Zara owner Inditex, according to the FT. Heere previously led Inditex’s Russian business before Marks & Spencer boss Marc Bolland parachuted him in to transform it into an international powerhouse.
Heere was one of Bolland’s first appointments when he started his three-year strategy of transforming M&S into a multichannel, international retailer. His departure comes as M&S starts an overseas push with 250 stores planned outside of the UK in the next three years.
Marks & Spencer reported that its international division underlying operating profit edged up from £120.2m to £122.7m as sales increased 6.2% to £1.15bn.
Heere’s exit comes just two months after property director Clem Constantine and IT director Darrell Stein decided to leave the business.
