Mango boss Toni Ruiz has hit back at claims that the retailer is another fast-fashion brand as it plans to ramp up its store network and hit €4bn in sales this year.
Speaking at a press conference, the chief executive stated: “Mango is not a fast-fashion company.
“We have 500 people taking care of the product and creating the new collections [at our headquarters in Barcelona].”
Ruiz said this was “critical” to the business as it allows the brand to have “excellent control of the whole supply chain” and control the quality of the garments that are shipped to its stores.
“We do not produce clothes, we produce fashion,” he added.
Ruiz’s comments come as Mango set out plans to open 15 new stores across the UK this year, following on from the 25 it launched in 2025. The brand now operates over 100 outlets nationwide.
Mango, which opened 260 locations globally last year, saw its sales rise 13% to €3.76bn (£3.27bn) in 2025. This was partly driven by the rollout of new concepts, Mango Teen and Mango Home.
The retailer unveiled its first UK Teen store in 2024 along London’s Carnaby Street and opened its third outlet in Glasgow’s Buchanan Galleries last summer.
It is currently trialling four standalone Home stores in Spain, and Mango described the customer response as “great”.
