Fashion etailer Asos has reported a 19% jump in sales for the three months to February 28, driven by strong performance in the UK.

Asos has reported a 19% jump in sales for the three months to February 28, driven by strong performance in the UK.

The online fashion retailer’s UK sales soared 30% to £126.5m compared with the same period last year as total retail sales hit £290.1m.

Asos boss Nick Robertson also hailed “encouraging momentum” globally as international retail sales grew 12% to £163m over the three months, driven by strong growth in the US and Europe.

The etailer had been hit by a 2% drop in international sales during the previous quarter.

But following strong performance in the UK, Asos said international sales now make up 56% of its overall sales, compared with 60% during the same period last year.

Overall group revenue, including third-party revenues, grew 20% to £298m.

Asos said its customer base had grown to 9.3 million active shoppers during the six months to February 28, up 13% on the previous year.

Asos chief executive Nick Robertson said: “Retail sales for the three months to 28 February 2015 grew by 19% (22% on a constant currency basis), with strong growth continuing in the UK at 30%.

“We have also seen encouraging momentum in our international markets during the quarter at 12% (16% on a constant currency basis) following the successful roll-out of our zonal pricing capability and our planned price investments.

“Our investments in our warehouse and IT platforms are on track. We expect profit before tax for the full year to be in line with market expectations.”
