Electricals and mobile phones group Dixons Carphone has reported flat group like-for-likes in its most recent quarter.

In the core UK market, like-for-likes were also flat in the period to July 28.

In the mobile category, like-for-likes fell 1%, but Dixons Carphone said it maintained a “leading market position” and made market share gains in SIM-only and SIM-free deals.

Electricals like-for-likes were flat. The retailer reported that a successful World Cup period and demand for consumer electronics counterbalanced a softer performance in white goods and computing.

Group online revenue increased 13%, with a 2.6 percentage point increase in penetration to 21.4%.

The retailer left full-year profit guidance of around £300m unchanged.

Dixons Carphone chief executive Alex Baldock said: “First-quarter performance was in line with expectations. We’ve maintained or grown our leading market positions.

“We’ve made good progress in setting a clear long-term direction for the business, one that sharpens our focus on the core, and that better joins up both our offer to customers and our business behind the scenes.

“I look forward to giving a fuller update on our plans and progress in December.”
