Footwear retailer Duo Boots has opened stores in Edinburgh, Manchester and Amsterdam.

Duo appointed Cornish shopfitter John Richards to work on the interior design and fit-out.

The three branches are finished in what a spokesman referred to as a “neoclassical style”, with oak floors, wallpaper, chandeliers and Louis XVI-style furnishings. The stores also feature low-level “boudoir lighting” and bespoke display units.

Duo Boots managing director Nick Sinfield said: “We wanted to leave a lasting impression on our customers, reaffirming our independent status.”

Duo specialises in boots tailored to different calf sizes and it has a strong presence online. It has a flagship store in Bath and another branch on Savile Row.

John Richards won the contract following a refit of Duo’s London store.
