A large proportion of spend has shifted online in recent weeks and months, with consumers spending significantly more time at home.

This gives a strong advantage to the likes of Amazon with its dominant online ecosystem. However, multichannel retailers such as John Lewis and Next have also demonstrated strength and agility, pivoting their businesses online and leveraging their established network of convenient click-and-collect locations that were able to stay open during the lockdown.
