Administrator Leonard Curtis is understood to be considering all the options for the family owned chain, which celebrated its 100th birthday last year.
Base managing director Marc Granditer said: “There will be a restructuring of the business that needs to take place over the next few weeks. With the support of landlords and suppliers, we would like to think that there’s a possibility of a viable business in the future. There is no question that we’ve underperformed over the past six months. When we look at a longer term view, there’s every opportunity to create a viable and healthy business when the market picks up.”
Last year, the retailer opened four new stores, in north London, Luton, Birmingham and Westfield Derby. The chain sells branded apparel including Armani, Ted Baker and Diesel.
In the past two months, Ponden Mill, footwear chains Dolcis and Stead & Simpson – which was rescued by Shoe Zone – and the bookseller The Works have been forced into administration.
