Asos executive director of product and trading Kate Bostock has resigned from Asos. Bostock joined the etailer in January this year.

Asos boss Nick Robertson said: “Kate and I have agreed that Asos is not the right platform for her talent. Of course we are disappointed that things haven’t worked out and Kate leaves with our very best wishes. In the meantime, we have a very strong team in place and the business continues to fire on all cylinders.”

Bostock said: “Asos is a formidable business and I have great respect for the team I have been working with: they are right at the cutting edge of young online fashion. Sadly, I’ve concluded that Asos isn’t the right place for me. I will not regret the experience and I wish Nick and all at Asos continued success.”

Bostock, who was previously general merchandise boss at Marks & Spencer, was brought into Asos to bring efficiencies to its sourcing operation in the face of its rapidly expanding overseas business. She was one of the biggest names in fashion and held roles at George at Asda and Next before M&S.

However, her move from mid-market, high street retailer Marks & Spencer to young, etailer Asos raised some eyebrows with some questioning whether she would be a good fit for the business.
