Anchors in place for Land Securities' Cardinal Place development
Zara and Topshop/Topman have emerged as fashion anchors for Land Securities' Cardinal Place development on Victoria Street in central London. Marks & Spencer has already agreed a 37,200 sq ft (3,455 sq m) unit and a spate of lettings means the development is now 80 per cent pre-let ahead of its summer opening.

Spanish fashion retailer Zara is taking 6,330 sq ft (590 sq m) of space, Topshop/Topman 4,100 sq ft (380 sq m), Molton Brown 1,075 sq ft (100 sq m), Monsoon 3,605 sq ft (335 sq m), Jones the Bootmaker 1,995 sq ft (185 sq m), Accessorize 1,055 sq ft (100 sq m) Goldsmiths 2,150 sq ft (200 sq m), Hawes & Curtis 1,580 sq ft (145 sq m), Thorntons 685 sq ft (65 sq m) Specsavers 1,600 sq ft (150 sq m), Boots the Chemist 4,210 sq ft (390 sq m) and Lloyds Bank 2,060 sq ft (190 sq m).

Leases are typically for 15 years at rents of about£210 Zone A, plus turnover top-up. The total rent generated by the retail element of the scheme is expected to exceed£4.5 million a year.

Land Securities London portfolio managing director Mike Hussey said: 'In the past, Victoria has been something of a missed retail opportunity. The shopping experience at Cardinal Place provides a welcome transformation for this part of the West End, set alongside some of the most innovative commercial and public space to be developed in London for many years.'
