Welcome to the inaugural issue of Retail Week Interiors, a standalone magazine that we hope will provide news and information about the retail design and fit-out sector that might not normally get coverage, allowing for the constraints of space and time. It’s been an interesting year for the sector so far, so there is much to look at and equally, much to relate.
Retail Week Interiors will be produced four times a year and as well as taking some of Retail Week’s more familiar fixtures, such as Store of the Week, and giving them more expansive treatment, in the shape of a Store of the Quarter, we’ll be looking at issues and elements that are central to making new shops a reality.
In this issue therefore, we look at LED lighting and whether it really does equate to value for money over its in-store life time (p39); the ins and outs of shopfitting, including our annual league table of the sector’s great and good, and we walk around The White Company’s brand new flagship off London’s Sloane Square, to see how being predominantly single colour, does not have to mean being boring. You can also examine the winners of this year’s Retail Week Interiors awards: always a telling snapshot of what the sector has been up to and how it has performed.
It’s worth noting too that as ever the ability to produce compelling, must-read features is almost entirely dependent on you, gentle reader. That being the case, planning for the next issue is already under way, so if you have any thoughts or ideas on what might usefully be included, suggestions would be gratefully received.
Meanwhile, sit back, turn off the computer and apply yourself to what’s in front of you. You’ve got this far; a few more pages and you really will have seen something different. Happy reading.
