The long awaited arrival of Wal-Mart in the Indian market has been slated for next month.

It will enter the country through its joint venture with Bharti Enterprises. Bharti Wal-Mart will open its first cash and carry store in Amritsar.

Bharti Enterprises vice-chairman and managing director Rajan Bharti Mittal said that it would open three stores in the coming year in the north of the country. Bharti Enterprise and Wal-Mart set up the joint venture in August 2007.
