Topshop ditches plans for sex shop concession

Topshop has shelved reported plans to launch a controversial sex shop-style concession in its Oxford Street flagship.

Brand manager Jane Shepherdson said in a newspaper interview that the concession would stock products such as whips and fluffy handcuffs.

Following publication of the interview, a Topshop spokeswoman claimed there were no such plans. 'We are launching a high-end lingerie line, not a sex shop,' she said.

The retailer is in discussions to extend the homewares range at its Oxford Street shop, which already stocks items such as picture frames and candles.

Should the plans be finalised, the range could be extended to rugs, throws and cushions.
