Contemporary French retailer The Kooples is to launch its first outlet store in the UK.

The premium chain, which has opened seven stores in the UK since its debut last November, opened a 1236sq ft shop at McArthurGlen’s York Designer Outlet today.

McArthurGlen managing director of northern Europe Henrik Madsen said the move demonstrated how a wide spectrum of brands, including those in its infancy, are making outlet a key part of their strategy.

A The Kooples spokesperson said: “As we are relatively new to the UK market, our brand identity is of paramount importance; we chose McArthurGlen over other UK outlets due to the excellent brand adjacency the centre offers, in an aspirational shopping environment.”
