Amazon has expanded its smart voice assistant technology into automobiles, allowing users to order products and control their smart home technology on the move.

The etail giant has rolled its Alexa voice service technology across third party devices, allowing UK shoppers to access the product on a variety of products outside of the Echo and Echo Dot devices.

One of the first systems that can utilise Amazon’s voice activated technology in an automobile is Logitech’s ZeroTouch app-and-dock system, which allows users to hold their hand in front of their smartphone’s camera to activate Alexa.

Users can then speak to the voice activated device to access all the capabilities that Amazon’s Echo device allows, be it to add to their shopping lists, control their smart home devices, or send an email.

Amazon Alexa director Aaron Brown said: “Voice is the future, and this is particularly true in cars.

“The ability to use your voice to control your smart home, manage to-do lists, access Kindle content, and more, makes for a safer, more enjoyable driving experience.”
