Former Co-op chief information officer Andy Haywood has joined home shopping retailer N Brown in the same role as it plans a major systems overhaul.

Haywood, who will sit on the retailer’s operating board, will oversee all the company’s brands including Jacamo and Simply Be.

The role brings together accountability for business change and IT. Haywood will head up the major systems project that the business is embarking on, designed to “step change its capability”, according to the retailer. It will facilitate simpler processes, improvements for customers and will underpin N Brown’s growth plan.

Prior to his role at the Co-op, Haywood was chief information officer at Boots, where he completed a four-year technology transformation. He also led the business integration programme of supermarket giant Asda with its parent Walmart.

Haywood will report directly to N Brown chief executive Angela Spindler.

She said: “Andy is without doubt one of the most respected CIOs in the market today. He has considerable experience in senior group roles in all aspects of IT and business change across numerous sectors. I feel sure his appointment will underpin our ambition to transform, modernise and grow the business going forward. I am delighted to welcome him to the team.”
