Amazon has added to the arsenal of its membership scheme with the roll-out of Prime Live Events, allowing users exclusive access to live concerts.
The online retailer’s latest push to drive its Prime membership has launched in the UK today, and will allow users to buy tickets to music concerts at intimate venues.
The concerts will also be streamed across the online giant’s international film and TV service Prime Video.
Blondie will be performing the first concert for the newly launched division of Amazon’s Prime membership scheme at the Round Chapel in Hackney, London later this month, with gigs slated for Texas and Katie Melua over the following months.
Users of the membership scheme will have access to tickets for the concerts at least 24 hours before they go on general sale and can sign up to receive weekly emails on events taking place through the scheme.
UK trial
The scheme has been launched first in the UK but will be rolled out to other international markets if it proves successful.
General manager of Amazon Tickets Geraldine Wilson said: “We’re delighted to reveal our first line-up of fantastic artists performing Prime Live Events in stunning venues to audiences of less than 800, and Prime members in the UK and internationally will have the chance to watch the performance on Prime Video.”
This is the latest in a series of initiatives the online retailer has rolled out to improve its Prime membership scheme, including adding Alexa voice-ordering capabilities for users in the US.
