Difficult trading not affecting flooring retailer
Sunderland-based Storey Carpets has revealed a big increase in sales for the latest financial year, despite a difficult trading environment.

The retailer announced sales of£36.6 million for the 12 months to the end of March, up 18 per cent on the previous year. Like-for-like sales were up 9 per cent and an increase in net profit of 50 per cent is expected when audited figures become available.

The company is reporting an increase in sales for the first 11 weeks of the current financial year.

Storey Carpets chief executive Simon Heptinstall said in a statement: 'We believe we can continuously improve everything we do, which is why we are a much better company today than we were just a few years ago. Keeping that momentum going in such difficult trading conditions is the next challenge.'
