British heritage brand Hunter is expanding, and has just opened its first standalone store in Toronto’s Yorkdale shopping centre.
The shopping centre in Toronto has the highest sales per square foot in Canada.
Inside, the 2,800 sq ft Hunter store has been designed as a “contemporary barn” from which visitors will look out onto a Scottish Highlands backdrop.
The shopfront has been made to look like a modern greenhouse, with sky and clouds surrounding shoppers as they enter. In addition to all of this, in-store elements created to look like the weather will be changed seasonally.
In terms of display, the interior is very uncluttered, and Hunter has embraced its new location by placing the Canadian maple leaf on signage for its red-and-white bags.
The mid-shop slatted wooden tables and the broad, unvarnished-wood planks that rise from the floor and run across the ceiling contribute to its natural tone – an integral part of the brand’s image.
The store confirms Hunter’s move beyond its posh Wellington boot origins.
