Baracuta is one of the major names that has long been associated with the Harrington jacket, the article of clothing beloved by Mods.

As a style the Harrington is a hardy perennial that has been around since the early 1920s and now it can be bought in multiple colours at the newly opened Baracuta store on Newburgh Street in London, just around the corner from Carnaby Street.

With its bright turquoise-coloured frontage, this two-floor store stands out from its neighbours and with outsize check-covered buttons intended to mirror the lining of a Harrington and used as hangers for the jackets in the window, this is a showstopper.

Venture inside and the floor sets the tone. Covered by a carpet that also uses the jackets’ tartan lining for its design, this is a bold and colourful interior. The walls are also check clad and the rest of the store uses the turquoise exterior colour to add a lighter touch to this polychromatic feast.

Previously, Baracuta had a store in London’s Covent Garden, but this one is a considerable move forward.
