A 37,000 sq ft ‘athleisure’ space has opened on the third floor of Selfridges’ Oxford Street flagship targeting the fashionably fit.

Selfridges has opened the Body Studio on the third floor of its Oxford Street flagship.

The new department, the biggest ever opened in one go by Selfridges, incorporates parts of the retailer’s former head office, measures 37,000 sq ft and is divided into a number of semi-discrete spaces.

These include a fitness studio, a cafe-cum-restaurant and a Daniel Galvin beauty salon. But the bulk of the space is devoted to fashion sportswear and lingerie, with the latter having a large room to itself and with an Agent Provocateur side room leading from it.

Owing to its position in the store, the department benefits from a high level of natural daylight and is just around the corner from the Denim Studio. The new department targets the growing trend towards ‘athleisure’.
