Shop price inflation falls despite mounting cost pressures

Shop price inflation fell in July as retailers competed to keep prices low during sweltering temperatures and with the World Cup on.

In July, shop price inflation decreased to 0.9% year-on-year, compared to a jump of 1.2% in June. This was also below the 3-month average of 1.1%, according to the most recent shop price index from BRC-NIQ.
