The new platform allows consumers to virtually compare the size of products they own

Shop Direct’s new platform, developed by technology firm Tangiblee, allows consumers to size up products by virtually comparing them to items they already own or on a model that is the same size as them.

The etail giant is running the technology on its purses, handbags and luggage on Very.co.uk, VeryExclusive.co.uk and Littlewoods.com across all platforms. It plans to trial the service on its watches and jewellery.

In a recent test, Shop Direct allowed half of customers visiting its site via mobile devices to access the platform. The other half of customers were unable to see the platform. The technology boosted net revenue 10.3% and sales conversion 7.2%.

However, only 17.1% of customers who were able to see the tool used it, utilising it for an average of 28.6 seconds.

Tangiblee co-founder Eliad Inbar said Shop Direct’s A/B testing was instrumental in the trial’s success.

He said: “We were able to rapidly roll out, prove the value of our solution and improve Shop Direct’s bottom line. We are confident that rolling out additional categories will further increase the value we deliver to Shop Direct and its customers.”
