Japanese running and sportswear brand Asics has opened its largest store to date at the west end of Oxford Street.

The 700 sq m shop, has two floors, a mezzanine and three “pods” to analyse shoppers’ running gait.

The women’s collection is in the basement, while men’s is on ground. The mezzanine is set aside for a running “lab” where aspiring marathon runners can have their leg strength and endurance tested and analysed.

The store, which is placed next to Primark on the iconic shopping street, is Asics’ second standalone in the UK, the other is on Argyle Street, further east along Oxford Street.

The intention is to open further branches in Liverpool and Birmingham, although the locations are yet to be confirmed.
