The St David’s Partnership, a joint venture between Land Securities and Capital Shopping Centres, has secured seven new retailers to the next phase of its shopping centre development in Cardiff.

Retailers Crabtree & Evelyn, All Saints, Links of London, Reiss, TM Lewin, Radley and Ghost have signed for units, totalling 17,710 sq ft (1,645 sq m).

The existing St David’s Shopping Centre houses more than 60 retail units – including anchor store Debenhams – across its 427,000 sq ft (39,670 sq m) of retail space.

The next phase of the scheme, St David’s 2, is due to open next year at a cost of£675 million, bringing the total retail space to 1,394,500 sq ft (129,550 sq m).

Department store John Lewis is confirmed to be anchoring the scheme, where it will open its first Welsh store, measuring about 260,000 sq ft (24,155 sq m).

The new phase will also include a residential area with 300 homes and 64,200 sq ft (5,965 sq m) of catering space, as well as a six-storey library and 3,000 parking spaces.

The St David’s Partnership was given the nod to build the 750,000 sq ft (69,675 sq m) extension by the Welsh Assembly in 2003.

Eric Kuhne Architects and Reid Architecture were appointed by St David’s Partnership.
Joint agents EJ Hales, Lunson Mitchenall, Healey & Baker and Cushman & Wakefield represented the St David’s Partnership.
