Sports Direct has appointed former Irish politician Charles McCreevy as non-executive director.
McCreevy, currently non-executive director at Ryanair, has held many political posts, most recently EU commissioner for internal markets and services.
The Irish national has previously been minister for finance, minister for tourism and trade and minister for social welfare in his home country.
Sports Direct non-executive chairman Dr Keith Hellawell said: “We are very pleased to welcome Charles to the board of Sports Direct. His experience in business and as European Commissioner will be a great asset to Sports Direct as the company continues to execute its strategic growth plans.”
