Lingerie and sex toys retailer Ann Summers has signed former Stringfellows lapdancer Nancy Sorrell - now comedian Vic Reeves' wife - to be the face of the brand.
The retailer, fresh from its job centre victory in the High Court earlier this month, has appointed Sorrell to promote Ann Summers across the UK.
As well as doing personal appearances, she will feature in a lingerie shoot, which will appear in shops later this year.
Ann Summers has never before used a celebrity to promote itself. A spokesman said Sorrell was chosen 'because she is popular and womanly'. Sorrell said: 'I'm delighted to be the new face of Ann Summers. I love their underwear.'
Her first public appearance for Ann Summers took place yesterday when she opened the retailer's second store on Oxford Street. The shop, near Marble Arch, is the chain's 82nd and the fifth to incorporate the latest design. It is the first time that Ann Summers has brought the new look to London.
At least 17 more shops are due to open this year.
- Arcadia-owned menswear retailer Burton also plans to introduce a new face. Kylie Minogue's former boyfriend, James Gooding, will appear in its Best of British campaign in September.
